What the app stores
Desktop Viewer for Pocket runs entirely on your own computer. It stores, locally on your machine only:
- API keys — your Pocket API key, and optionally a Google Gemini API key — stored at
%APPDATA%\DesktopViewerForPocket\config.json. These are sent only directly to Pocket's API (public.heypocketai.com) and, if you use the AI breakdown feature, directly to Google's Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com). - Notes, tags, and hidden-recording preferences you create in the app — stored at
%APPDATA%\DesktopViewerForPocket\data.json. - Exported files (summaries, transcripts, mind maps, notes, raw data) — written only to a location you choose, or the default
Documents\Desktop Viewer for Pocket Exports\folder.
None of the above is transmitted to the app's developer or any third party other than the services listed, which you configure yourself with your own credentials.
Third-party services
The app is an independent client and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Pocket AI or Google. Your use of those services through this app is subject to their own terms and privacy policies:
- Pocket AI — see heypocketai.com
- Google Gemini API — see Google's privacy policy and Gemini API terms
What the app does NOT collect
No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any network calls other than the direct API calls described above. The developer has no access to your recordings, API keys, notes, or exported files.
Uninstalling
Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete %APPDATA%\DesktopViewerForPocket\ or your exported files — remove these manually if you want your locally stored data fully deleted.
